Important Announcement: Patients Please Read!

At Skin Care Specialty Physicians, we take the privacy and security of your protected health information very seriously, and we are committed to transparency and accountability in all matters involving patient data.

On April 29, 2025, we became aware of a phishing incident involving an employee’s email account. The employee received an email that appeared to be from a patient and included a link to an external document. Unfortunately, clicking that link allowed unauthorized access to the employee’s email account. Upon discovery, we took immediate steps to secure the account, launched a thorough investigation, and engaged cybersecurity professionals to assess the scope of the incident.

Based on our investigation, the unauthorized access may have involved emails and attachments that contained personal information related to approximately 1,038 patients. The information potentially exposed may include some or all of the following: name, date of birth, address, phone number, medical information, insurance details, and other personal health information we maintain in our system.

At this time, we have no evidence of misuse of your information. However, out of an abundance of caution and in accordance with HIPAA regulations, we are notifying you of the potential breach. If you would like to know exactly what information of yours may have been involved, we encourage you to contact our office directly.

We understand how important your privacy is and deeply regret any inconvenience or concern this may cause. In response to this incident, we have implemented additional security measures and re-educated our staff to prevent similar events in the future.

If you have questions or would like to discuss the specific details of your information involved in this incident, please contact our office at 410-252-9090 or toll free 1-833-498-2544, Monday through Friday between 8am – 5pm.

Thank you for your understanding and continued trust in Skin Care Specialty Physicians.

Sincerely,
Brooke Hindle – HIPAA Security Officer
